What This Covers

HODLearn is two things: this website, and the HODLearn mobile app. They collect different information, so this policy treats them separately.

The app has not launched yet. Today the only thing this website does with your data is run the launch waitlist, described in section 02. Section 03 describes what the app will collect once it is available.

The Waitlist

When you join the waitlist we collect:

Your email address. Required. It is the only reason the form exists — we use it to tell you when the app launches.

Your first and last name. Both are optional, so you can share only what you are comfortable sharing while still letting us address you properly.

Which device you will use. Required — iPhone, Android, both, or something else. It tells us which build to prioritise and who to notify first.

Where you are starting from, and how long you have been around Bitcoin. Both optional, and you can leave either blank. They only help us pitch the early lessons at the right level.

Your consent, and when you gave it. We record that you ticked the consent box and the moment you did, so we can show the list was collected properly.

Campaign parameters. If you arrive from a marketing link we keep the utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and utm_content values attached to it, together with the time we first saw them, so we know which efforts are working. We keep only the first set we see for you.

A one-way hash of your IP address. Your IP address is combined with a secret value and hashed before it is stored — we keep the hash, never the address itself, and it cannot be reversed back into your address. It is used for one purpose: limiting how many signups can be submitted from one place in an hour. Your address is also passed to Cloudflare unhashed as part of the anti-spam check described in section 05, but we never store it in that form.

Dates. When you signed up, and when your entry was last changed.

That is the complete list of what we store. This website runs no analytics, advertising, or behavioural tracking of any kind; section 05 lists the only outside parties it contacts at all.

The HODLearn App

The following will apply once the app is available. It does not describe anything collected today.

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, first name, and last name.

Learning Data: We track your learning progress including completed lessons, quiz scores, streaks, and activity dates to personalize your experience.

Device Information: If you enable push notifications, we collect device tokens to send you reminders and updates. We also collect your timezone and notification preferences.

Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our app, including features used and time spent learning.

How We Use Your Information

From the waitlist: to email you about the launch, to decide which platform to release first, to shape the early lessons, and to keep automated signups from flooding the list. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own marketing.

From the app: to provide and personalize our educational services; track your learning progress and maintain streaks; send push notifications and email communications (with your consent); process purchases and subscriptions; improve our app and develop new features; prevent fraud and enforce our terms.

Third-Party Services

Used by this website: Replit hosts this website and stores the waitlist in its managed PostgreSQL database. Cloudflare provides the Turnstile anti-spam check. Turnstile runs a short verification in your browser to confirm you are not an automated script; when we check the result with Cloudflare we pass your IP address to them so they can assess it, and the result itself is not stored with your entry.

Google Fonts: our typefaces are served by Google Fonts, so loading any page here makes a request to Google's servers, which reveals your IP address and basic browser information to them. We send them nothing else, and they tell us nothing about you.

Used by the app: Stripe processes payments — we never store your full card details. AWS SNS delivers push notifications, and AWS S3 stores media files. We use analytics within the app to understand how people learn.

Cookies and Local Storage

This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. If you arrive from a marketing link, the campaign parameters are held in your browser's local storage so they survive until you actually sign up; clearing your browser's site data removes them. The Turnstile anti-spam check may set its own storage in order to run.

The app uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. IP addresses are hashed before storage and never kept in raw form. However, no system is 100% secure.

Data Retention

Waitlist entries are kept until the app launches and the launch announcements have been sent, or until you ask to be removed — whichever comes first. Ask at any time and we will delete your entry.

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or business purposes.

Your Rights

You have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; delete your data or account; opt out of marketing communications; and export your data. To leave the waitlist or exercise any of these rights, email info@hodlearn.io and we will act on it.

Children's Privacy

HODLearn is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app.
